The tank construction division in Steinhaus is investing in groundbreaking roof technology for tanks

Effective immediately, the Tank Construction division of Kremsmueller is offering its customers aluminium roof structures for storage tanks. Specifically, what is involved are the so-called "geodesic, self-supporting aluminium dome roofs". These futuristic constructions are as light as a feather and can span areas with a diameter well over 100 metres. The technological background is impressive: every roof is designed and constructed using a highly sophisticated calculation system. There are numerous applications for the roofs – Kremsmueller intends to specialise in industrial applications.
The aluminium roof practically acts as a sort of an "umbrella" and keeps weathering influences away. In the large storage tanks of refineries, there are always floating roofs, which move up and down according to the level. In this case, carrying off rain water is an enormous technical challenge. If an aluminium dome is used, this floating roof can be reduced to a minimum variant – also of aluminium. Kremsmueller can also supply these floating covers from a sort of a modular system.
